Emotions recalled by these experiences allow each painting to be created from the heart and filled with soul. Each image is an authentic celebration of the joy experienced when we connect with nature and ourselves. Printmaking Retreat
with Lydia Jane Duncan
April 5th - 6th
Lydia Jane Duncan is a printmaker, painter and surface pattern designer, who grew-up in Hartland, North Devon, where her love of nature and wildlife began.
She works from her studio, Candyland Studios near Torrington, drawing inspiration from the stunning North Devon coastline and Flora and Fauna in the surrounding landscape, from which she creates her artworks.
The beautiful scenery that surrounds us is a constant source of inspiration and interest when creating prints. Lydia captures the magic of nature in the Emoor landscape, hinting at folklore- connecting the myths and legends of the past to the present day.
Using traditional and modern techniques, Lydia designs colourful wallpapers and printed textiles, as a contrast to her landscape works and block prints. More recently, Lino, Wood and Rubber block printing, have taken precedence in the studio with recent commissions leading the direction.
Lydia's work is now synonymous with North Devon, and features in many galleries, shops and homes.Lydia is a passionate teacher, inspiring her students to work successfully with the techniques, and leave her workshops with exquisite pieces.
As a participant on this retreat, you will receive a kit that you can take home, along with the prints and pieces that you create, enabling you to continue with your personal print journey.
You can choose to mix mediums; design wallpaper, fabric or prints - designs that can be reused to decorate accessories or interiors at home.
There are no limits to your vision of how to use this technique.

"I had a wonderful visit to Seaview Villa whilst attending one of there collaboration Coastal Art Retreats.
The hosts Claudine & David were very accommodating, making every effort to cater individually for our Vegan friend. We were lucky enough to be served with 3 course evening meals too which were ‘outstanding!’ They can cook!! and the tastes were sublime. The Villa is a short walk to the Harbour where there are so many interesting shops & vistas. Being a past hotelier myself, I would definately recommend Seaview Villa, Lone Pine Retreats and Claudine’s food. Absolutely Lovely - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"

"I recently stayed at Seaview Villa as part of an art retreat hosted by Caudine and David, and I couldn't have felt more welcome. They both worked so hard to give us an amazing time. What I wasn't expecting was for the food to be so good, in fact stunning. Claudine cooked everything fresh, and it was not only delicious, but so creative and accommodated everyone's dietry needs.
The location is beautiful with diverse natural environments, from river walks to sandy and pebbly beaches, cliff trails and the valley of the rocks all within walking distance.
Lynmouth is a sweet little harbour town from which you can walk up the cliff, or get the funicular to Lynton.
I would stay here again. Loved it" ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
